HDR写真に三度目の挑戦をしてみました。嵐の直前、を表現したかったのですがどうでしょうか。

This is one of my first HDR photos. It kind of looks like a scene from video game or something. I like it.
初めてハイダイナミックレンジ写真に挑戦してみた作品のうち一枚。ビデオゲームの1シーンのようで気に入りました。
How I create icons and symbols – Part 2
アイコン／シンボルの作り方 パート2
Step 1: Draw shield idea on paper. シールドのアイデアを紙に描きます。
Step 2: Take photos of ‘metallic’ materials for color reference. This can be anything shiny. 色の参考のためにメタリックの質感がある写真を撮ります。光っているものなら何でもオーケーです。
Step 3: Outline shield in Adobe Illustrator using pen tool. アドビイラストレーターのペンツールを使ってシールドの枠を描きます。
Step 4: Fill it with black. 黒のフィル。
Step 5: Copy the shield and scale it down. No fill and no stroke. シールドをコピーしたものを縮小します。フィルとストロークはなしです。
Step 6: Create gradient mesh. グラデーションメッシュラインを指定します。
Step 7: Using the photo reference, apply the color to each mech point. 写真を参考にそれぞれのメッシュポイントに色をつけていきます。

Craft Monday
月曜日はクラフトデー
I just decided that I am assigning Monday as my craft day (at least an hour). Working and having 3 kids leave me no time to play..or at least, it seems like that. I get very frustrated doing same thing over and over again (work), so I need outlet.
I’ve been wanted to create 3D refrigerator magnet for a long time. Have you seen the 3D sushi magnet? I really want to make that myself. Something about making miniature things excite me. I know it takes practice to create 3D sushi, so I started something easier today.
I went to the local craft store and bought sculpey, craft glue, and magnet. Sculpey is a polymer clay. It stays soft until you bake it, so it is extremely easy to work with.
First, I created simple shape objects.
This is before I put them in oven. Cookies, strawberry, and potato. Very simple stuff.

This is after I baked them, paint them with acrylic paint, and applied vanish.

..and this is after I glued magnet on the back of the clay.
This is my first sculpey project, and I am very happy with it. Hurray for craft Monday!

今日から月曜日はクラフトの日（最低でも1時間）と決めました。仕事していて3人子供がいると遊ぶ時間がありません。。というか少なくともそんな時間などないように感じます。でも同じ事を何度も何度も繰り返していると（仕事）、どうしてもイライラしてくるので、何か気がまぎれるものが必要だと思ったのでした。
私は冷蔵庫用の3Dマグネットをいつか作ってみたいとずっと思っていました。3Dのお寿司のマグネットを見た事がありますか？あれが作りたいのですよ。ミニチュア的な物を見ると何だかわくわくしてくるのです。3Dお寿司を作るにはかなりの練習が必要だと思うので、簡単なものから始める事にしました。
地元のクラフトストアーに行ってスカルピー、クラフト用糊、そしてマグネットを買ってきました。スカルピーはオーブンで加熱すると硬化する焼成粘土です。加熱するまで柔らかいままなので、扱いが非常に簡単です。
まず最初に簡単な形の物を作ってみました。（上の最初の画像参照）この写真はオーブンに入れる前のものです。クッキー、イチゴ、そしてじゃがいも。簡単です。
上の二番目の写真はオーブンで加熱後、アクリル絵の具で着色、そしてクリアコーティング仕上げをしました。
上の三番目の写真はマグネットをクラフト糊で作品の後ろにつけてみたところ。
これが私の最初のスカルピー作品。とても満足しています。月曜日クラフトデー、ばんざ〜い！

WordPress API key…
WordPressのAPIキー
This is just confusing.
One of the WordPress plugin requires API key. It says I ’suppose’ to receive this key via e-mail when I registered an account with WordPress. I checked my old e-mail, and API key is not found. I looked up online for info, and it says ‘you should see your key in your profile page’. I didn’t see it, but I noticed that the plugin warning text says ‘you can get your APY key here’. I went to the link, and it opened the www.wordpress.com. I tried to log in using my user name and password, but it didn’t let me. I tried all kind of things for a while until I noticed that I am hosting WordPress blog on my own domain through www.wordpress.org.
Ok, is this means I have to register as a new user through www.wordpress.com to get this plugin working on my blog???????
I tried, and it worked. API key is assigned and I can use it for any number of blogs I create from now on. One very inconvenient thing is…when I log in through www.wordpress.org (where my blog is) to manage my blog, I also have to log in to www.wordpress.com with different user name and password to make the one useful plugin to work! Talk about confusing…

ちょっと頭がくらくら〜っと混乱してしまう事がありました。
WordPressのプラグインの一つを使用しようと思ったらAPIキーが必要だと表示されました。よくよく読んでみると「このキーはWordPressアカウントを登録した時に送られてきているはずです」と書かれていましたので、古いメールをチェックしてみました。。がキーは見つかりませんでした。オンラインでいろいろ検索していたら、「キーはWordPressブログの管理ページのプロファイル部分に表示されている」と。。。
探してみましたが見つかりません。プラグイン設定のページを見てみたら、「APIキーはここで手に入ります」と書いてあったのでリンク先にいってみたところ。。www.wordpress.comが開きました。ここからログインしようとしたのですが、ユーザーネームとパスワードは正しいのにも関わらずどうしてもログイン出来ません。いろいろ試しているうちに、私のWordPressブログは自分のドメイン上にwww.wordpress.orgのアカウントで運営している事に気付きました。
これは。。www.wordpress.comに新規登録しなければ自分のブログのプラグインが使用出来ないという事なのでしょうか。。。？？？？？？？
試しに新しいユーザーネームとパスワードを作ってログインしたところ。。。APIキーが発行されました。このキーはブログを何個持っていても再使用が出来るという事でした。でも面倒なのは、自分のブログ設定画面にwww.wordpress.orgからログインするにも関わらず、プラグインによっては使用する前に再びwww.wordpress.com にログインしないと駄目だという事です。本当に頭クラクラ。。と混乱します。
これだから1Password*アプリケーションは手放せません。
* ウェブサイトのユーザーネーム、パスワード、フォーム記入項目などを、わざわざタイプしなくても一発でアクセスするMac OS X用のアプリケーションです。これがあればパスワードをいちいち覚えていなくても大丈夫！

How I create icons and symbols – Part 1
アイコン／シンボルの作り方 パート1
One of my favorite graphic work is to create icons and symbols. I mainly use Adobe Illustrator to create them, but before I sit in front of my computer, I do a lot of research and brainstorming. I often go to the library to check out the books and also collect many photos from family and friends related to the subject. Sometime I even go out to take a photo or two for reference. I study the materials similar to the icon drawing I’m about to create. In part 2, I will explain how I created the ’shield’ icon below. Stay tuned..
私が好きなグラフィック関係の仕事の一つに、アイコンとシンボル制作があります。主にアドビイラストレーターを使用して制作するのですが、机に向かう前に資料をたくさん集めてアイデアを練ります。図書館で本を借りたり、家族や友達から写真を集めたりします。自分で作品の資料にするために写真を数枚撮りに行く事もあります。作りたいアイコンとシンボルに近い素材で出来ている物も参考にします。パート2では私が以下の盾アイコンをどのようにして制作したか説明したいと思います。少々お待ち下さい。。
